I, Penelope Chapter One

Welcome to chapter one of my first novel.

Well, I, Penelope is more than just a novel, it's really a thinly fictionalize memoir/autobiography of my time in high school.  So, there's no actual sci fi/fantasy here but lots about the part of our real world culture that loves such things.

Kendra is a typical teenager who likes boys and parties but her best friend, Penelope, is anything but.  Penelope is into heavy metal, Dungeons and Dragons and period novels.  She proudly asserts her individuality and intelligence, taking Queen Elizabeth the first as her inspiration.  And, like her, she is also extremely wary about losing her independence to a male.  In the past, this has never been a problem because, although, she's had crushes, the sixteen-year-old Penelope has never experienced true sexual desire.  But when, though her association with Kendra, she winds up falling for a mutual acquaintance who is her opposite in almost every way, she had to quickly figure out what it means to be a woman and what is truly important to her.

I don't have a set schedule for posting more chapters yet.  When ever enough people are interested pretty much.  So, if you're interested, let me know because it will inspire me to work harder.
